Merry Christmas!
On Wednesday before we got out for Christmas break, we had several Christmas activities going on on our hallway. We created human Christmas trees. Students worked in groups to decorate one member of their group up as a Christmas Tree. It was hilarious to see what creations the students came up with. Lastly, we had the students sort and work math problems with the canned foods that were brought in as Christmas presents for Mrs. Stovall and I. We had a wonderful time! I pray that you and your family are enjoying your Christmas and that you all have a wonderful and happy New Year!

PUMPKIN PIES and Happy THANKSGIVING!
On Monday, November 22nd, 5th graders and their families met together to bake pumpkin pies for Orchard Drive Baptist Church. This church in the Sanville area is gracious enough to prepare over 500 Thanksgiving meals for families in the area. As a community outreach project, the 5th graders and their families volunteered their time to bake these pies. We had tons of fun and Mrs. Stovall, Ms. Roop and I were able to deliver 32 pies to the church Tuesday morning! My prayer is that all of you have tons to be thankful for this holiday season and that you have a wonderful THANKSGIVING holiday! Love and blessings to you all!

HOME MOVIES and Vocabulary
We have been having a tremendous time learning new vocabulary words using the Flocabulary cd. The music is catchy and the lyrics are fun. One of the songs that we learned was called HOME MOVIES. We decided that it would be fun to make a music video, if you will, of this song. I have been amazed at the amount of musical talent that we have in our classrooms. Your children are amazing!
Below are some pictures from our video day.
We also had the opportunity to share the songs we have learned at the PTA meeting this month. My favorite part was hearing them sing, but also watching them take so much pride in all that they have learned. Also, I loved seeing the parents dance with their children to our wake up song, Sweet Caroline!

October 17, 2010
I apologize for the delay in blog posts lately.
The fifth grade "Eggstraordinary Night" was held on October 11, 2010. I hear it was a wonderful time for everyone involved and that there were some very interesting contraptions built to hold eggs. I also heard that there were many eggs that were unbroken. I wasn't able to attend due to Drew falling down and hurting his arm. We were at the emergency room. Thankfully, he came away with a sprained wrist and elbow--no breaks! Thanks to all of you who have sent emails and notes asking about him.
Also, on the October 13th, I turned another year older! It was a great day, as we celebrated by receiving our I-pads. They are so awesome and the students are loving them!! We are going to do a tremendous amount of learning using them this year! I am extremely excited about having them. A big THANK YOU to everyone who sent cards and birthday emails!
Below are some pictures to catch you up. I will post some pictures of our I-pads later!

Week of September 24, 2010
What a great week!!! I am thoroughly enjoying this school year, and I pray that your children are as well! We honored a new All Star student on Friday! (video and pics below). On Tuesday night, we had a PTA meeting and Back to School night. At the PTA meeting, members of the 600 Club received their plaques for scoring a 600 on one or more SOL tests last year. During Back to School night (pictures below), I passed around a couple of I-pads for parents and students to play with. I am not sure when we will be receiving them, but they will be a tremendous asset to our classroom. I'm excited!! =) During this meeting, we also had parents write goals for their children and Mrs. Stovall discussed our "Eggs"traordinary night and when that will take place. Sounds like tons of fun!!!
